NOTES: This historic winery, founded in 1608, was extended to accomodate wine cellars, storerooms and a shop. To exploit the land to its geophysical potential, an artificial hill was created underwhich the new cellars were constructed and vines planted on top.

NOTES: Although construction began in 1825, the tunnel did not open until 1843. It was originally planned for horse-drawn traffic, but by the time the tunnel opened there was not enough money remaining to build adequate approach roads so it was used for foot traffic only and became a tourist attraction. It was purchased in 1865 and became part of London's railway network.
