NOTES: The building was constructed as the Imperial Airways Empire Terminal in 1939 (architect Albert Lakeman) and was taken over by BOAC in 1940. BOAC is an acronym for British Overseas Airways Corporation which was the British state airline from 1939 until 1946 and the long-haul British state airline from 1946 to 1974.
