NOTES: This drawing is from an album of measured and topographical drawings of buildings in Germany, Italy, Greece and Egypt entitled 'Architectural Sketches' made by George Vulliamy on his travels. La Cuba (or Palazzo della Cuba) is a recreation pavilion created, along with an artificial lake, in 1180 for William II. Many of the decorative features were created by the Arab artists living in Palermo. It is now a shell - the roof with central dome had already disappeared when Vulliamy sketched the building.
