NOTES: Margam Steel Works, originally and colloquially known as the "Abbey Works", was a modern integrated steelworks which began production in 1953, although most of the works had been built by 1951.
NOTES: Built in 1853-1857, the Crumlin viaduct carried the Newport, Abergavenny and Herefordshire railway over the valley renowned for its iron and steelworks. It was demolished in 1967.
NOTES: This is the gateway to the 1842 expansion of the steelworks on The Holmes site in Rotherham built for the firm of Peter Stubs, possibly designed by Flockton. It was demolished in 1969.
NOTES: This factory was built for the Steel Company of Wales, and was featured in an exhibition of industrial architecture by the Royal Institute of British Architects the same year.
