NOTES: Piazza San Pietro is partly enclosed by two semi-circular colonnades, designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in 1656-1667. The square has two fountains supplied by the Acqua Paola; the one on the right, designed by Carlo Maderno in 1614, was moved to its present site and was slightly modified by Bernini in 1667.
