NOTES: Swiss Cottage Swimming Baths and Central Library opened in 1964 but the council chamber and administration buildings included in the original masterplan for Hampstead Civic Centre were abandoned in 1966 with the reorganization of local government in London.
NOTES: Tecton were responsible for the masterplan, which was given Town Planning consent in 1948, and Skinner, Bailey & Lubetkin were responsible for its development and execution. See RIBA141108 for negative verson of this image.
NOTES: The gallery and upper floors were reached by five spiral staircases around the courtyard: the most important of these is the Scala Regia (Royal Stairs) rising through the three floors, frescoed by Antonio Tempesta.
