NOTES: Originally a hunting lodge dating to 1208. It was purchased by Robert Cecil in 1604 and the then semi-derelict lodge, was remodelled by William Arnold in 1609-1612. A later wing was added, but rebuilt in 1647-1650 following Civil War damage. See RIBA133102 for a black and white version of this image.
