NOTES: This long-running business opened its Bond Street pharmacy in 1794, although it did not trade under the name Savory, Moore and Co. until 1814. It became Savory, Moore and Davidson between 1818 and 1826, and reverted to Savory, Moore and Co. from 1826. The shop front was restored under the supervision of Bryan and Norman Westwood, who also added the upper five storeys in 1960.
NOTES: This unexecuted design for the John Lewis Department Store is one of a number made by William Crabtree and others for the John Lewis Partnership. It dates from between 1937 and 1948.
NOTES: Perforated steel railings and ventilation moat keep pedestrians away from the shop window. See RIBA134084 for a black and white version of this image.
