NOTES: Hatfield House, commissioned by the Lord Treasurer, Robert Cecil, Earl of Salisbury, was designed by Simon Basil, who was Surveyor of the King's Works from 1606 until his death in 1615. NOTES: Formerly Thorn House, it was designed by Andrew Renton and Humphrey Wood, while working for Basil Spence & Partners in 1959. In 1989/1990 it was remodelled and reclad by Renton Howard Wood Levin, with Humphrey Wood taking at active role. Geoffrey Clarke's sculpture 'The Spirit of Electricity' was retained and it was renamed Orion House.
