NOTES: Constantine I reigned from 25 July 306 AD to 29 October 312 AD. The Palazzo dei Conservatori, which houses part of the Capitoline Museum, was built by Giacomo della Porta in 1564-1575 to the design of 1536 by Michelangelo.
NOTES: Sir Charles Barry was the architect of Trafalgar Square completed in 1845. The statue of Charles I, the first equestrian bronze in England, was executed by Hubert Le Sueur in 1629-1633, while Nelson's Column was designed by William Railton and completed in 1843.
NOTES: Construction on the cathedral began in 1936 under the direction of Sir Edward Maufe, appointed Cathedral Architect in 1933. The cathedral, with only the nave and chancel complete, was consecrated in 1961. The western porches (the Garths), the Sacristy, the Lady Chapel, chapter house and the tower were not completed until 1966.
