NOTES: Burslem was chosen in 1958 by the Civic Trust for its second pilot experiment in civic design (the first being Magdalen Street, Norwich) for the rehabilitation of a run down city centre. The consultant architect was Misha Black who produced a scheme in collaboration with Anthony Wilkinson, John Piggott, the City Architect and James Plant the Reconstruction Officer, for a planned pedestrian area to include, a car park, lavatory and a seating area.

NOTES: Paisley Civic Centre was built in four phases from 1969-1973. Phase 1 was completed in 1969, Phases 2 and 3 were completed by 1972 and Phase 4 containing the dining facilities was finished in early 1973. The council suite and chamber for both the county (Renfrew) and the borough (Paisley), which were part of Phase 4, were put on hold pending local government reorganisation.

NOTES: The Ronald Fielding Partnership were the architects for the hotel, and the interior designer was Alan W. Edwards. The courtyard seen here was covered with a plastic roof, contained a swimming pool, and was climate controlled.

NOTES: Clare Hall is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge. It was founded by Clare College for advanced study, admitting only postgraduate students, and opened in 1967.
