NOTES: This drawing was made in preparation for publication in Newton's 'The Architecture of M. Vitruvius Pollio', (London, 1771; 2nd edition, 1791), in which Vitruvian principles were applied to conjectural reconstructions of Classical buildings and later constructions. This is a variant study for figure CXVII (2nd edition).
