NOTES: This drawing was made either by Visentini or one of his assistants. The temple of Antoninus and Faustina had been converted to a church, known as San Lorenzo in Miranda, by the 11th century. In 1602 the remains of the cella was incorporated into a new church by Orazio Torriani.

The First Duke of Devonshire had the west front rebuilt between 1699 and 1702. It is not known who designed it, but it is probably based on a design by Thomas Archer. The north front, with its bow front, was designed by Thomas Archer. The new Chatsworth was finished just before the Duke died in 1707. See RIBA68766 for the drawing from which the engraving was made.
