NOTES: Rousham is a 17th century country house with pleasure grounds laid out to designs by Charles Bridgeman in the 1720s. It was then landscaped, modified and extended by William Kent, 1737-1741. It is the most complete surviving example of Kent's landscape work. See RIBA149115 for a black and white version of this image.

Marshall, Edward (c.1598-1675)
NOTES: Early 17th century country house, damaged by fire in 1645 and rebuilt in the 1660s by Edward Marshall (master mason to Charles II). The house was extended with alterations in 1707-1714 by Thomas Archer. In 1795 John Soane was commissioned to carry out further remodelling, which was largely carried out within existing facades. In the 1950s the house was sold and subsequently divided into flats. Since 2004, it has been converted back to single ownership and restored.
