NOTES: This plate is from the manuscript copy of Scamozzi's L'Idea della architettura universale di Vincenzo Scamozzi by Carlo Bovara. For the printed version of this plate see RIBA38335.
NOTES: The BMA building was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, completed in 1925. The World War II memorial, completed in 1952, was designed by Stephen Rowland Pierce and the four statues Sacrifice, Cure, Prevention and Aspiration were sculpted by James A Woodford.
NOTES: William Talman was the architect for the south and east fronts, completed in 1689. The First Duke of Devonshire had the west front rebuilt in 1699-1702. It is not known who designed it but it is probably based on a design by Thomas Archer. The north front, with its bow front, was designed by Thomas Archer. The new Chatsworth was finished just before the Duke died in 1707.
