NOTES: Built for Cardinal Ricci de Montepulciano in 1564-1574 by Nanni di Baccio Bigio and Annibale Lippi, this villa was enlarged for Cardinal Ferdinando de' Medici in 1587 by Bartolommeo Ammannati. It has been the seat of the French Academy since 1803.
NOTES: This view shows the Guild House (formerly Brothered House), 55 High Street (dated 1681 in pargeting), and 57, 59, 61 High Street, a long uniform range built as the hall of the Brotherhood or Guild of St. John the Baptist in the Church of Blessed Mary of Ashwell, formed 1476. The building dates from around 1500.
