Opera houses

NOTES: These plans and sections, drawn by architects within Lasdun's office as part of research for the design of the National Theatre, show the layouts and dimensions of auditoria in some of the most important post-war theatre buildings internationally, including German and American theatres, and the Sydney Opera House. They also include the Old Vic, where the National Theatre Company were based at this time, and the new Chichester Festival Theatre where they also produced plays.

NOTES: The Aldeburgh Festival Committee bought a site opposite the church in Aldeburgh for an opera house in 1956 and Cadbury-Brown produced this design for them. However, focus for the building moved to Snape and in 1959 Cadbury-Brown bought the site from the committee and it was on this site that he designed two houses - one for Imogen Holst and the other, 3 Church Walk, for himself and family.
