NOTES: The County Hall was originally designed by E. V. Harris in 1935-1938 and first occupied as an unfinished brick shell in 1947. The extension designed by W. Dan Lacey (the County Architect) and Henry Swain, who succeeded him, was built using the CLASP (Consortium of Local Authorities Special Programme) method of construction.
NOTES: These warehouses with its lighthouse and signal station at the corner were designed for the storage and delivery of cocoa. Designs were first published in 1922 and again in the journals in 1930. There it is noted that the scheme was abandoned because engineering difficulties meant the necessary breakwaters for sheltering the embarkation beaches could not be constructed.
NOTES: The Precinct Centre incorporated a shopping centre, a business school, offices and student accommodation in self-contained maisonettes, arranged in six floors above the shopping centre.
