NOTES: The Vienna Succession, also known as the Union of Austrian Artists, or Vereiningung Bildender Kunstler Osterreichs, was formed in 1897 by Gustav Klimt, Koloman Moser, Josef Hoffmann, Joseph Maria Olbrich, Max Kurzweil, Otto Wagner, and others. The group's exhibition house, designed by Olbrich, was built in 1898.

NOTES: The cathedral, also known as the Kaiserdom (Imperial Cathedral), was built by Charlemagne, the first Holy Roman Emperor, in 792-805. The Palatine Chapel, designed by Odo of Metz, holds the remains of Charlemagne (742-814) and was the site of coronations for 600 years.
