NOTES: Completed at the end of the 13th century by the wool merchant, Lawrence of Ludlow, this is an important example of one of the earliest fortified houses of England. The gatehouse was added in 1640.

NOTES: This hunting lodge built on a grand scale was designed by the architect Filippo Juvarra for Vittorio Amedeo II. Work started on the building in 1729 and was completed within two years. The interior decoration of the ballroom was the work of the Venetian painter and stage designer Giambattista Crosato.

NOTES: The chancel of the north chapel dates from c. 1300 while the tower was built for Bishop Sandys in 1587. Thomas Rickman rebuilt the nave in 1836-1837.

NOTES: The house was a 17th century tithe barn from Worcestershire, moved and converted into a house.
