NOTES: The extension to the existing Mayfield girls' school, designed by Powell & Moya for the London County Council, provided 1,620 new places and converted the school into a girls' comprehensive. The existing site on the north side of West Hill was increased by nine acres by taking in adjacent bomb-damaged properties. Since the new buildings were designed during a steel shortage, the three-storey buildings with brick structural walls were deemed to save steel and provide an economical solution.

NOTES: Located adjacent to Northolt Aerodrome, the planning and structure of this mixed secondary school necessitated that all the windows and roof lights were double glazed and that a simple system of air conditioning was introduced.

NOTES: Designed in 1939 but only completed in 1955, thsi building comprised a swimming pool, gymnasium, badminton court and assembly hall.

NOTES: The sports hall was intended to be part of a complex of sports facilities, connected at various points, at first-floor level, to the main concourse of the university.
