NOTES: Witley Park was commissioned by Mr and Mrs Gerald Bentall and was the largest of Patrick Gwynne's houses. It comprised large living and dining rooms, a master bedroom suite with dressing rooms and private sitting room, four further family and guest bedrooms, a staff flat and an office.

NOTES: The house was built by Thomas Bourchier, Archbishop of Canterbury, between 1456 and 1486. It passed into Royal possession in 1537 during the Dissolution. In 1566, Elizabeth I presented the house and estate to her cousin Thomas Sackville, 1st Earl of Dorset, who substantially remodelled the medieval palace between 1603 and 1608. The King's Bedroom is traditionally supposed to have been decorated for the reception of King James I, but the bed and complementary furnishings have subsequently be correctly dated to later in the 17th century.

NOTES: This studio addition to a farmhouse was built for the designer Ashley Havinden.

NOTES: Sir Hugh Casson was responsible for the design of the house, built in 1959-1961.Timothy Rendle, an associate architect of the Casson Conder Partnership, was responsible for the design of the interiors.
