Designs for five capitals (including two pilaster capitals) incorporating basketweave motifs and Grotesque ornament

NOTES: Part of the Burlington Devonshire Collection. These capitals are based upon, but not copied from, the many sheets of fanciful capitals attributed to Giovanni Battista Montano and others, some intended for Montano's 'Cinque libri di architettura' (which was later published in Rome in 1684).
