NOTES: Hellman created his 'Archi-tetes' caricaturing famous architects in the style of their buildings for the Architectural Review, although not all of the caricatures in this archive appear to have been published. This Archi-tete appeared in the Architectural Review, 1987 September, p. 85.
NOTES: Dorothy Marckwald and Anne Urquhart were part of the firm Smyth, Urquhard and Marckwald, the only women-led maritime interior design company in the world at that time. The SS United States, one of the last American transatlantic liners, was designed by William Francis Gibbs and completed in 1952.
NOTES: This is one of a series of portraits of people who worked on the building of the RIBA at 66 Portland Place, London. James Woodford created the plaster figures of the building trades seen the Florence Hall.
