Design for the new Liverpool Exchange: perspective of the quadrangle on Exchange Flags

NOTES: In 1863 Wyatt won the competition for the new Liverpool Exchange. The arcades which had surrounded the Flags were to be omitted according to the competition rules but local response to the designs for the new building was such that a compromise was reached and arcades were made part of the new plans. The building was constructed in stages.
