NOTES: This is an outstanding example of a Victorian gin palace. It was saved from delapidation by the National Trust which purchased it in 1978 and undertook a three-year renovation to restore it to its original Victorian state.

NOTES: This is an outstanding example of a Victorian Rococo pub or gin palace. The early gin palace depended on the blaze of naked gas light to dazzle and attract its customers, while the Victorian saloon bar employed decorated glass to soften the glare.

NOTES: Installed in 1907, this ceiling was designed by J. A. Holzer who was the chief mosaicist of the glass and decorating company, Tiffany Studios.It is reputed to be the largest Tiffany dome in existence.
