NOTES: This palace is the only remaining component of the Palace of Whitehall. It was built for James I specifically to provide an appropriate setting for a new and elaborate type of court entertainment, the masque.
NOTES: In 1972 Aldo Rossi and Gianni Braghieri won a competition to design an extension to the San Cataldo Cemetery. The scheme was only partially complete by 1985
NOTES: The original fruit and vegetable market moved out in 1974 and in 1978-1980 the market was restored and converted by the architects of the the Greater London Council's historic buildings division into a mix of shops, restaurants and offices.
