NOTES: This print must date from before 1806 when the owner of the original painting from which this print was made, John Morris of Clasemont, became a baronet. William Skelton, the engraver, produced many portrait engravings between 1790 and 1820.

NOTES: These drawings are part of a vellum sketchbook containing studies by Burges of Italian architecture, decoration, birds, flowers and heads.

NOTES: The building of the cathedral comprised three main periods; from 1072-1092; 1191 to c. 1250; and 1256 to c. 1300, with some alterations and additions to the towers in the 14th and 15th centuries. The Angel Choir was built between 1250 and 1280 to house St Hugh's shrine and is located at the east end of the cathedral.

NOTES: Ellison Voysey's daughter, Ella Annesley Voysey, married the actor Robert Donat in 1929. Their son John became a photographer.
