NOTES: The church in its present form was built between 1018 and 1063 over an existing 4th century chapel and next to a small cemetery. The geometrically patterned west facade (in white marble from Carrara and green from Prato) was begun around 1070 and was completed in the 13th century.
NOTES: The Alton Estate is situated between Putney Heath and Richmond Park in south-west London. The smaller south-east part, Alton East, was built in 1952-1955, while the much larger north-west part, Alton West, was built in 1955-1959.
