NOTES: This photograph, taken prior to the rebuilding of the bank, comes from the Francis William Troup archive held at the RIBA Library. Troup was a consultant architect to the Bank of England and prepared designs for the rebuilding of the Threadneedle site in 1920. The commission was given to Sir Herbert Baker in 1921 with whom Troup worked initially as supervising architect.
NOTES: Built for the the early ironmasters, the Foleys, this church was consecrated in 1735. The interior was the work of James Gibbs who incorporated ceiling paintings by Antonio Belluci and painted glass windows by Joshua Price, bought by Lord Foley from the Chandos' house, Canons, on its demolition. The seating and other 19th century furnishings in Gothic style were introduced by Lord Dudley.
