NOTES: The original house was built by Henry Clutton in 1863. It was rebuilt by Clutton in 1875-1879 after fire damage in 1873. It was bought by Lord Melchett in 1911and further re-modelled in 1912-1914 by Darcy Braddell.

NOTES: Montpellier Spa Long Room and colonnade were built in 1817 to designs by George Allen Underwood and in 1825-1826 J. B. Papworth added the Rotunda, inspired by the Pantheon in Rome. Today the Montpellier Rotunda is a bank.

Papworth, John Buonarotti (1775-1847)
NOTES: The house was built in 1765 for James Murray of Broughton to designs by Robert Mylne, with flanking wings added in 1795 by Thomas Boyd. In the 1830s Alexander Murray commissioned Papworth to design exterior alterations and remodel the interior.
