Royal Pavilion, Aldershot, Hampshire: the entrance porch

NOTES: An army base was established at Aldershot in 1854 and this pavilion on the wooded hilltop landscaped by Capability Brown was erected as a temporary residence for Queen Victoria when she visited to review the troops. The barracks were substantially rebuilt in 1961-1969 by Building Design Partnership and the pavilion demolished. In 2002 the European Headquarters of the Computer Sciences Corporation, designed by RTKL UK, was completed on the site of the pavilion.
