NOTES: The Banganga Tank is a complex of temples, surrounding a water source (the tank), containing water from the Ganges river. It dates back to 1127 AD, but was destroyed by the Portuguese during their reign over Mumbai in the 16th century. The main Walkeshwar Temple was rebuilt in 1715, but many of the structures around the tank have been rebuilt and added to since then. See RIBA131510 for a colour version of this image.
