NOTES: This Neoclassical mansion was built in 1816-1823 to serve as treasury of the newly created order of St Michael and St George and residence for the British Lord High Commissioner. The building became known as the Royal Palace when it was handed over to King George I of Greece on the departure of the British in 1864. It fell into disrepair after 1913. One wing now houses the Museum of Byzantine and East Asian Art.

NOTES: This building, undertaken by Carlos IV, is located in the heart of the 'Jardin del Principe' within the grounds of the Royal Palace. It was designed by Juan de Villanueva while the interiors were the work of J. D. Dugourc.

NOTES: Construction on this horseshoe-shaped castle for Elector Clemens August of Bavaria began in 1725 under the supervision of the architect Johann Conrad Schlaun. He was soon dismissed and replaced by Francois de Cuvillies who transformed the Rococo castle into a Baroque residence. It was finally completed in 1769. The staircase was designed by Balthasar Neumann in 1748 while the frescoes adorning it were executed by Carlo Carlone.
