NOTES: An Imperial Free City, Goslar became a member of the Hanseatic League in the 13th century and enjoyed immense prosperity until the mid-16th century.
NOTES: This palace was built in 1711-172 for Augustus the Strong, King of Poland and Elector of Saxony until 1733. Designed as a pleasure palace, it consists of seven pavilions connected by a single storey gallery.
NOTES: The church in its present form was built between 1018 and 1063 over an existing 4th century chapel and next to a small cemetery. The geometrically patterned west facade (in white marble from Carrara and green from Prato) was begun around 1070 and was completed in the 13th century.
NOTES: This palace was built for the Duke of Urbino, Federico da Montefeltro, between 1444 and 1472. Luciano Laurana from Dalmatia was appointed chief architect in 1468.
