NOTES: John Vardy's design indicates enlargements to be made to the Royal Mews at Charing Cross, which had previously been designed by his close associate William Kent in 1731-1733. The Mews were demolished in 1830 to make way for the construction of Trafalgar Square.
NOTES: The oldest part of the castle dates to 1270 and consisted of the gatehouse and a walled bailey. The castle was repaired and converted into a manor in 1462 by Geoffrey Boleyn.
