NOTES: In 1949, the London County Council commissioned Goldfinger to design and build two single-storey primary schools, Westville Road School (now Greenside School), Hammersmith & Fulham, and Brandlehow Road School, Wandsworth. Goldfinger developed a prefabricated concrete-frame system for use in both schools which enabled speedy erection in only 24 days. The plans for both schools included six classrooms, staff offices, an assembly hall, a kitchen and a water tower. For each school, Goldfinger also designed a school keeper's cottage. Both schools were built during 1950-1951 and opened in 1952. This drawing is one of a series which are possibly initial sketches for the drawings on the exhibition boards intended for the ÔÇÿBritain Builds for EducationÔÇÖ exhibition (which travelled in 1952-1953).
