NOTES: James Wyatt remodelled an existing house for Thomas Barrett, a friend of Sir Horace Walpole, in the early Gothic Revival style around 1785-1790. Sir George Gilbert Scott was engaged by a later owner to alter the house in the 1860s. The house was demolished in 1953, but the so-called 'Strawberry Room', the room forming the entrance to the Library, was saved and is now in the Victoria & Albert Museum.
