NOTES: This drawing is one of a number from Lutyens's 'Castle in the air' sketchbook which was created for the amusement of his dying friend and earliest supporter Barbara Webb in the mid 1890s. Lutyens visited Webb regularly at her home, Milford House near Godalming, until her death in 1897. The sketches depict a variety of palaces, castles and chapels.
