NOTES: This was a scheme to replace the old Hurva Synagogue, a nineteenth century building by the Turkish architect Assad Effendi, which had been destroyed by bombing in 1948. Lasdun prepared designs between 1979 and 1982 but none were accepted. This scheme was not the final design.
