SOURCE: Architect's Journal, vol. 73, 1931 April 4, p. 510 NOTES: The house began as a picture gallery built by Samuel Bunce in 1797-1798 for the painter George Romney who lived there until his death in 1802. It was enlarged in 1807 as the Hampstead Assembly Rooms, with tea room, upper ball room and a card room. After falling into disrepair it was acquired by Clough Williams-Ellis who rehabilitated it for his own use in 1929-1930.
