NOTES: This mountain shrine, located near Adiyaman in south-east Turkey, is thought to be the burial tumulus and Hierotheseion (Holy Seat) of the king of Commagene, Antiochus I Epiphanes (ruled 70 BC - 38 BC), who created his own cult in a Hellenized form of Zoroastrianism.
