NOTES: Colonel Stanley G. Bird had been a president of the Central Association of Master Builders of London (now the Federation of Master Builders) and the first president of the (Chartered) Institute of Building. Francis Bird emigrated to Western Australia in 1869 after working in the offices of John Elliot of Southampton and Ewan Christian in London. He was a pioneer member of the West Australian Architects Association founded in 1887, the precursor of the West Australian Institute of Architects.
