NOTES: Gdansk lies in the eastern part of Poland's Baltic coast and is its principal seaport. It was formerly known as Danzig, one of the Hansa cities. Many of its fine buildings date from the time of the Hanseatic League that traded from the 13th to 17th centuries from the North Sea to the Baltic. The Great Mill was destroyed in 1945. This is an earlier image, which was later published in the Architectural Review in April 1977.
