NOTES: The Chained Library, which contains the 8th century Hereford Gospels, was housed in the Lady Chapel until 1842. It was moved to the new Dean Leigh building, designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield, in 1897. Since 1996, it has been housed, together with the Mappa Mundi, in the purpose-built New Library Building designed by Sir William Whitfield.
