NOTES: The cathedral which is on the site of the city's Almohad Mosque was constructed in 1402-1506. In 1511 the dome collapsed and was repaired, but collapsed again in 1888 following an earthquake. The carved and gilded reredos by the Flemish artist Pieter Dancart, completed in 1482, is considered to be the largest and richest in the world.
