The Royal Institute of British Architects is developing a new permanent gallery at its London Headquarters in 66 Portland Place. Designed by architects Carmody Groarke, and opening in February 2014, this exciting new exhibition space will allow us to display a far wider range of the British Architectural Library's collections than ever before and to share them with new and growing audiences for architecture.
To facilitate the construction work, some of the Library's book and photographic materials will be rehoused temporarily and this work is likely to begin in early April 2013. Users of the Robert Elwall Photographs Collection are advised that access to it will be substantially reduced over the coming year and some parts of it will be unavailable. In the run up to the move of the collections, and until the building works are complete, viewing appointments for photographs will be strictly limited. We apologise for the inconvenience to our users and ask you to bear with us during the construction period. Updates will be posted on the website as new information becomes available. In the meantime, users with specific enquiries are asked to email email@example.com for further advice.
Other parts of the Library collections, including RIBApix, will continue to be available as usual and our staff will be happy to offer advice on their use.
